Small Fruit Fly or Vinegar Fly

Small Fruit Flies, also commonly called "vinegar flies" or "drain flies" are found in and around restaurants, bars, kitchens, dumpsters, recycling bins, grocery stores and any food handling establishment. Adults appear dull brown or brownish yellow to black. The presence of red eyes is an important identifying characteristic. They have a habit of laying eggs on or near rotting or fermenting fruits and vegetables. Eggs hatch within 30 hours and the complete life cycle can be completed in as few as 8-10 days.

Small Fruit Fly or Vinegar Fly Control, Delaware

The ultimate level of control is the removal of the larval-breeding media. Typically, these are found in micro-habitats that appear clean on the surface leading to frustration as a business owner. A common misconception is that fly control can be accomplished simply by installing Electric Fly Devices (EFD) and cleaning drains.  While EFD's and cleaning drains is helpful, it will leave you wondering why you can't get rid of small fruit flies. EcoArmour's effective control strategy includes identifying all breeding sites, and taking action with environmental, procedural, mechanical and insecticide applications.
